State Testing Reports

Academic Performance Index (API) uses state tests to score schools (and their student groups) on a scale of 200 to 1000. The state’s goal is that all schools and student groups increase their API each year and ultimately reach at least 800.

Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) The Federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) legislation sets academic targets called Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP). These targets are based on the percent of students reaching proficiency on state English and Math tests. At least 95% of students must participate in taking the tests. All districts, schools, and student groups throughout the state are expected to reach these targets. For AYP results based upon testing in spring 2009, the target is approximately 45% of students need to be proficient. These targets will increase by 11% each year, until 100% of students are expected to be proficient in 2014

Program Improvement (PI) are the sanctions described by NCLB for districts and schools that receive federal money (Title I) for poor and disadvantaged students but do not meet AYP for one or more student groups at least two years in a row in the same academic subject.
